Wireless access point router!
I need a good wireless access point router!A wifi access point can be both internal - pci wireless, or external.
A wireless access point router (WAP or AP) is a device that connects wireless communication devices together to form a wireless network. The WAP - pci wireless, or external usually connects to a wired network, and can relay data between wireless devices and wired devices. Several WAPs can link together to form a larger network that allows "roaming".
It is not always enough with one wireless access point router, because of the limited signal that will only reach for about 100 meters(in a room with no walls). In that case u need a wireless access point repeater, that can expand the signal further. A wireless access point repeater will enlarge ur network to double size.
Today it is also possible to get a wifi access point that have a larger range than normal.
There are several kinds of Wireless access point routers. One for internal use in a computer, is the pci wireless. A pci wireless card will provide a wifi access point without any external units.

Great buy for the priceI bought the TRENDnet gaming adapter to stream netflix to my Samsung blue ray player. Since I have a slightly older router that doesn't support WPS I had to first attach the gaming adapter to my laptop and configure it. Other than that it has worked great without any problems.

Netgear WGR614 Wireless-G Router.

Netgear Wireless G Router 4Pt.
Reviews:
Just Follow The DirectionsI don't know what peoples' problem is with this router... mine works great. I was getting 10mbps with my old LinkSys router... once day I hooked directly from cable to my computer and my speed doubled to over 20mbps... so I knew my old router was a choke point. I got this new router... and I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS on the CD Rom to hook it up and it has worked great ever since. I have never had to reboot in nearly 14 months it's been online... but like I said... that's not to say there might not be some bugs out there... but mine works great... and... you gotta follow directions... just my opinion but I think there are some people who are pretty comfortable with hooking stuff up and just hoping it will work... and those are the kinda people who will have trouble with this. The CD Rom that walks you through the installation/connection is great... easy to understand and follow... but... many people just refuse to take the time to follow the directions. I know this for a fact because I am usually the one in my family to go over to their house and fix it for them.

Connects all my home theatre gadgetsPerfect little unit and easy to set up. Just plug it in. I've connected a Sony Bravia KDL-52W5100 television, Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray player, and Asus O!Play media player. I didn't have an ethernet outlet near my home theatre system so I used a ASUS WL-330gE Multi- Functional Wireless Access Point (also a simple little gadget). So thanks to this switch (and the wireless access point), my entire home theatre system has wireless connectivity for firmware updates, network access, and Internet content.

Linksys by Cisco WRT160N-RM Refurbished Wireless-N Router.

Linksys' Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router is actually three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection..
Reviews:
Nothing but problemsI am a big fan of Cisco products and had several previous versions of the Linksys router. However, the 160N is substandard.
My computer is approximately 10 feet away from my 160N, and it loses signal at least once an hour. At the same time, my computer is able to see all of the other wireless routers in my neighborhood.
However, my 160N died today. No more wireless signal - and it's only been 2 months since I bought it. For the first time in years, I am looking at an altnernative that is not Cisco.

Great idea, poor performancePerhaps it was the location of this device in my home that presented issues, but it never worked. I increased my band width of internet, and tried several changes to our router, but this just wouldn't stream movies for us.

Technical Support SucksAfter spending hours with technical support over the phone, and getting no help and no response from e-mails to technical services, I have to recommend against any product from Hawking. I really don't need to spend two hours with technical support telling me to unplug the device and/or push the reset button over and over. If their products interface with yours, I'm sure they are great. If not, don't count on any support from their technical services, just package it back up and return it.

Works Great for WD HD Live TV boxGot this for the WD HD live tv box.
I first tried a trendnet dongle - didn't work at all. Had to return it.
This *tiny* Buffalo Nfiniti worked right out of the box. Truly just plug and play. Great signal, no issues at all. Has been using it for over 6 weeks now.
I also plugged it in to my laptop just to test it: no hitch either.
Overall: Highly recommended

Reviews:
Hardware is good; software -- not so muchThe vendor-supplied software wasn't as functional as I'd like; limited use of the available storage space, reduced configuration and so on.
The ease of installing the dd-wrt software was ridiculously easy. The only problem relates to the design of the 'reset' button. The third-party software installation requires extended (90 seconds!) pressing-time on the reset button -- two or three times during the process. The button is difficult to hold for that length of time.
But that's probably a good thing, because it means the settings don't easily get wiped by accident.
The other problem I had was with one of the antenna mounts -- the post the antenna screws-down on, that exits the body of the device: One was loose, and not affixed well. It floated in a way that didn't make me comfortable. A drop or two of cyanoacrylate glue ('Super Glue') easily fixed it, but that's not something I think I would need to do right-out-of-the-box. Points off for that.
One design suggestion: I'd like to see mounting holes on the bottom so one could easily wall-mount this device. As it is, the footprint takes up usable space on my desk.
Good wireless router, though. I like it.

Easy to UseInstructions are simple to follow, works great with the Airport Extreme I purchased also. I have my entire home covered with Wi-Fi. I can stream music through it which is another plus. Really do like this product. Looks great unlike some of the cheaper versions you can buy. I can highly recommend.
