E3000 does the jobThe sign of a good wireless router is how invisible it becomes after setup. It's been about 3 weeks since I setup this router to replace a D-LINK DIR655. Setup was easy and I've had no problems. Range is better than the D-LINK. I now get 'HD' NetFlix quality more frequently (using wireless connection on Blu-Ray player). I wish that the LG BD390 operated at 5Ghz range, but that's another story. The only knock I have against the E3000 is that if you use the CD based setup application, the admin password and the access passphrase have to be identical. That's just not good security. Anyway, the browser based setup screens are not that difficult to navigate. I am not unhappy with the purchase.

Not Good, BadI have purchased two of these things. The first one worked perfectly for about two months and then it stopped working completely. The second one worked sporadically from day one. I bought this for my grandparents hoping to give them the wondrous capability to surf the web from where ever they were in their house. Unfortunately all they got was a bunch of tech visits from me. It never worked longer than forty eight hours. Eventually I just got sick of trying to get it working and I returned it with no hassle. I like Lynksys, but this product is just not worth it. You get what you pay for, I payed for cheap, I got cheap. If I were you, I'd probably go with one of their newer more reliable models.

Order process misleading.I pre-ordered this router on August 29th because the ordering page said it was not yet in stock and I would be notified of the ship date by email, and I could cancel at any time before it shipped. The day I placed the order I received the message below.

Delivery estimate: We'll notify you via e-mail when we have an estimated delivery date for this item. It will ship separately. You can cancel at any time.

On September 2, I received this email.

My bank shows a debit for this item the morning that I was notified that they had a ship date. So I did not have the option to cancel the order once being informed of a ship date as I was told more than once. My Amazon account shows the item can't be canceled because it is in process, yet the ship date has now been updated to September 7, still 4 days away. Very misleading information from Amazon regarding the pre-ordering of merchandise and notifications.

If the router works well I may change my rating, since I am rating service with this review.

very good range!I bought this router mainly because of its extended signal range feature. I have a 1850sf single story house plus a seperated 250 sf entertainment room 5 feet away from the house. The signal strength is excellent in every corner of the house and in the outside entertainment room as well. We also have a mobile home as a guest house 100 feet away from the main house and I was wishing the signal strong enough to reach the mobile home so the internet can be avaiable to our guest. Guess what? After the setup, I went over one of the room in the mobile home and my laptop can detect the signal! It is not strong but at least there is no problem to go on the internet. I am very happy with this router.

Do not buy this router.This is a terrible piece of junk. I purchased the router 2 months ago and it's given me too much grief. Each time I've attempted to waste hours of my day trying to explain to the online tech support folks that a) I'm not an idiot and I know how to install this router. b) asking me question after question that leads to the same result. c) them asking me to try to set it up again and me explaining that if I do that, we will lose OUR connection because the only way I'm connected to the internet is through a hard-wire at the moment.

Please do not waste your time with this modem. It is junk. Buy a more reliable brand. Linksys support is weak and unhelpful. The modem is cheaply made.

All I wanted to do was to get a replacement. They make it VERY difficult. In the end, I just threw it away and bought one made by NETGEAR. It works fine
